SUBJECT:
Change in pre-registration procedure with no pre-registration survey
To start in the coming school year 2025-2026, the pre-registration procedure will change.
Previously, we followed a three-step procedure:
1. Pre-registration survey
2. Pre-registration
3. Registration
We will no longer run a pre-registration survey. Thus, there will be only two steps:
1. Pre-registration
2. Registration
The pre-registration survey was intended to give us information on the demand for classes. We will no longer run this survey because:
▸The survey response rate was always low.
▸The pre-registration results did not match the survey results.
▸Those who answered the survey said it had no practical benefit to them.
To summarize the new procedure, from the students’ point of view:
▸You no longer need to answer a pre-registration survey.
▸The course offerings become more stable and predictable.
▸You will have more choices of electives. Instead of a few electives being offered, all will be offered, and we will determine demand from the pre-registration results.
▸You can still petition for a course; if enough petition, there could be a section created.
▸Other than removing the pre-registration survey, nothing else will change.
Watch out for the enrollment memo from the Registrar’s Office, to be released before the pre-registration. This will contain the initial course offerings.
Please be guided accordingly.
