Congratulations to Maria Filomena Singh (Law '91), new Associate Justice of the Supreme Court

On 18 May 2022, Court of Appeals Justice Maria Filomena Dumandan Singh was appointed as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
Justice Monette is an alumna of the Ateneo Law School (Class of 1991) and a member of the Ateneo Law School faculty. Justice Monette replaces another Ateneo Law School almuna in the person of Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe who recently retired from the High Court. Of the 15-member Supreme Court, six (6) are alumni of the Ateneo Law School.
Prior to her appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Monette served as Presiding Judge of the MeTC and later as Executive Judge. She was also a Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court. She was awarded with the Don Antonio Madrigal Award as Most Outstanding First Level Court Judge of 2007 by the Society for Judicial Excellence of the Supreme Court. She was appointed to the Court of Appeals on March 14, 2014.
In 2021, Justice Monette was selected as the 17th Metrobank Professorial Chair Lecturer, a distinguished lecture series for outstanding members of the Judiciary
