On 31 October and 2 & 3 November 2023, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School Filipino faculty Paolo Ven Paculan delivered a series of lectures, “Cultural Echoes: Exploring Philippine Narratives and Heritage” at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. One of the talks was “Noli Panghayskul: Designing Rizal’s Novela Tagala for this Generation,” which endeavored “…to correct some misconceptions, unearth some new artifacts, and put the spotlight on some of the more obscure (and exciting) parts of this classic mystery novel.”
Consul General Emil Fernandez received Mr. Paculan at the consulate in Honolulu on 2 November to discuss the lecture series, which was organized by the Center for Philippine Studies (CPS) under the scope of the Philippine Studies Visiting Scholars Fund (PVSF).
