Ateneo's Center for Continuing Education hosted a resource person development workshop on 27 November 2024. Titled "Making Learning Visible Through Canvas," the workshop was meant to teach faculty and resource persons how to best use the Canvas learning management system (LMS) to make learning more visible to their students.

The focus of the workshop was on developing the skills of resource persons and faculty when it comes to using the Canvas LMS, showing them ways to better make use of it.

The workshop began with an overview delivered by Galvin Radley L Ngo, director of the Ateneo Gokongwei School of Education And Learning Design's (GBSEALD) Institute for the Science & Art of Learning & Teaching (Ateneo SALT). As part of this, Director Ngo discussed a few case studies that illustrated why it's important to make learning more visible to students.

Following the overview, the rest of the workshop was split into two sessions. In each session, the participants were given time to go hands on with the Canvas LMS to try out the features and concepts being presented to them.

Ms Karen Natera, Coordinator for Learning Design at Ateneo SALT, led the first session, titled "Designing Rubrics for Visible Learning." Here, Ms Natera detailed the different kinds of rubrics instructors can use and how these could be implemented in the Canvas LMS.

The second session was led by Ms Irish Adante, Coordinator for Education Technology at Ateneo SALT. Ms Adante's session, titled "Using Canvas for Visible Learning," went over the various features of the Canvas LMS that can be used to make learning more visible. These included quizzes, speed grading, analytics, and more.

The "Making Learning Visible Through Canvas" workshop was held at the Conservatory at the Peninsula Manila – the same venue that hosted CCE's 29th-anniversary dinner later that same day.
