AJHS marks Women’s Month 2026 with the theme “Breaking Glass Ceilings: Her Strength, Our Future”
06 Mar 2026
This March, the Ateneo Junior High School (AJHS) community proudly joins the nation in celebrating National Women’s Month, marking a special milestone in its second year of co-education. Guided by the theme, “Breaking Glass Ceilings: Her Strength, Our Future,” the celebration aims to highlight women’s empowerment, promote gender equality, and inspire leadership among students.
The Office of Guidance and Counseling (OGC) leads the celebration, collaborating closely with the University Gender Hub and the Committee on Safe Space and Gender Focal Point to foster inclusive dialogue and meaningful engagement. Beyond regular gender and development modules in Formation Classes, AJHS students will experience a variety of programs designed to promote safety, belonging, and shared responsibility in championing women’s rights. Check out the following events for the month below:
Every Wednesdays of March
Weekly Gender Hub Presence at the AJHS
Mr Joseph Violago, a representative from the University Gender Hub and a licensed psychologist, will maintain office at the Duffy Guidance Center every Wednesday for student and faculty consultations.
March 6 (Friday)
Launch of AJHS Survey for Female Students
This survey is aimed at examining our first female cohort’s perceptions and experiences of school safety, belonging, and thriving as a member of the AJHS student community.
March 9, 16, 23 (Monday)
Safe & Seen: Voices of Young Women (Gender Hub Conversations with Female Students)
This is a session where female students can participate in a safe, open conversation about gender-related issues. The conversation is rooted in the Gender Hub’s broader mission of promoting gender inclusivity, safety, and responsiveness in the school community.
Venue: Dulaang Sibol
Schedule:
Grade 7: FS 1 period - March 9
Grade 8: FS 1 period - March 16
March 9, 16, 23 (Monday)
Strong & Supportive: Young Men as Allies, Rethinking Masculinity (Formation Module for Male Students)
This session is designed as a guided learning and reflection space for male students that complements the Conversations with female students in the Gender Hub program. It provides young men with the opportunity to critically explore how gender norms and expectations shape their identities, relationships, and behaviors — particularly in how they relate with others in their community. Participants are invited to question restrictive and harmful stereotypes about masculinity, and to engage in dialogue that fosters respect, empathy, accountability, and equality.
Venue: Classrooms
Schedule:
Grade 7: FS 1 period - March 9
Grades 8 and 10: FS 1 period - March 16
Grade 9: FS 1 period - March 23
AJHS students are encouraged to stay tuned to school announcements for additional activities celebrating the presence, achievements, and contributions of women in the community.
As we mark Women’s Month, AJHS continues to cultivate a culture where every student, regardless of gender, can feel safe, valued, and empowered to lead.
Happy Women’s Month!
