Women Watch: Navigating the theory and practice of women in politics
01 Mar 2024
The Department of Political Science and University Gender and Development Office (UGDO) of Ateneo de Manila University, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect-Philippine Office (APRtoP-PO) and the Women’s Studies Association of the Philippines (WSAP), will convene the first-ever Women Watch: Theory on and Practice of Women in Politics. It will be a space for women to share experiences and insights on how they will navigate, struggle, and negotiate different and intersecting political spaces. As part of the Women’s Month celebration, this activity aims to contribute to discussions on “Investing in Inclusivity: Power of Women Visionaries, Change Makers, and Disruptors.”
Additionally, as an inaugural activity, it will bring together women who will prominently figure in national and local governance as well as movements, in the form of praxis sharing combined with scholarly reflections from women political scientists. The activity will also provide an opportunity to discuss women and politics from the vantage point and experiences of young women leaders and feminists and how they envision transformative change in politics.
Women Watch takes place on 19 March 2024, from 9:30am to 11:15am at the Leong Hall Auditorium, Ateneo de Manila University.
