JGSOM awards Most Outstanding Graduate Thesis, Most Outstanding Dissertation in 2nd JGSOM Graduate Research Colloquium

In the 2nd JGSOM Graduate Research Colloquium held last 22 March 2023, JGSOM awarded the Most Outstanding Graduate Thesis and the Most Outstanding Dissertation from its Batch 2023 graduate students. Mr Jerome S De Guzman, MS in Sustainability Management, won the Most Outstanding Graduate Thesis for his work "Developing an Assessment Tool for the Sustainable Value Creation of Companies through their Sustainability Report Disclosures". Dr Anna Angeline M Cataluna PhD in Leadership Studies - Business Leadership Track, won the Most Outstanding Dissertation for her work "Surviving the COVID-19 Crisis: Leader values that keep enterprises going." The research adviser of Mr de Guzman and Dr Cataluna is Dr. Ma. Assunta C. Cuyegkeng.

2nd JGSOM Graduate Research Colloquium Photo-op

The awardees were selected by a blind peer review process of distinguished reviewers from international universities. The theses and dissertations were reviewed based on the novelty of findings, the soundness of research design, the appropriateness of methodology, the quality of the findings and discussion, the value and contribution of the study, and its journal-readiness.

  1. Ms France Justice A. Arugay MSSM, "How Social Enterprises create Sustainable Value through their Business Models"
  2. Mr Ivan Joseph Edgard C. Cuartero MSSM, "Understanding the Relationship of Motivation towards Pro-Environmental Behavior and the Perception of Pre-Used Clothing Purchase"
  3. Mr George Isaac Y Go MSSM, "Developing a Tool to Assess the Sustainable Value Creation of New-Gen Social Enterprises"
  4. Mr Alfredo R San Agustin Jr MSSM, "Sustainable Farming: a narrative analysis of the values, beliefs and attitudes of organic farmers"

The other nominees are

  1. Dr Danica Regina G Caynap, "An Episodic Narrative Analysis of the Role of Team Sports in the Development of Business Leaders"
  2. Dr Pilar U Tolentino, "What makes Sibling-Teams Work: exploring factors in successful second-generation sibling teamwork in Filipino family businesses"

Present during the research colloquium were Dr Roberto N Galang, Dean of the John Gokongwei School of Management; Dr Jayeel S Cornelio, Associate Dean for Research & Creative Work; and Dr Ma Louise Antonette N De las Penas, Chair of the University Research Council. They all congratulated the nominees for their job well done and expressed gratitude for the relevance of their work. 


About the JGSOM Graduate Research Colloquium

The JGSOM Graduate Research Colloquium recognizes the Outstanding Graduate Theses and Outstanding Dissertations. Students' work is nominated by their respective research advisers and undergo blind peer review.
