Ateneo de Manila University sustains its performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, maintaining its place in the 201-300 bracket for the second year in a row in the world’s most recognized rankings table for universities’ real-world impact.

The THE Impact Rankings, released by the Times Higher Education group, ranks higher education institutions around the world based on their real-world impact as measured by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the 2023 and 2021 editions, Ateneo de Manila was also in the 201-300 bracket. The University's best performance so far was in 2022, when it entered the 101-200 bracket. Throughout its participation, Ateneo has been the top Philippine institution in the Impact Rankings. This year, a total of 56 institutions from the Philippines participated.

The 2024 edition of the THE Impact Rankings, released Wednesday, 12 June 2024, saw Ateneo in the top 100 globally in the following SDGs:

  • SDG 16: Peace, justice, and strong institutions: Rank 30
  • SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation: =32
  • SDG 7; Affordable and clean energy: 34
  • SDG 14: Life below water: =70
  • SDG 1: No poverty: 72

For the rest of the SDGs, Ateneo ranked as follows:

  • SDG 2 - Zero Hunger: Rank 301-400
  • SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-Being: 401-600
  • SDG 4 - Quality Education: 801-1000
  • SDG 5 - Gender Equality: 301-400

  • SDG 13 - Climate Action: 201-300
  • SDG 15 - Life on Land: 101-200
  • SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals: 101-200

At the core of the rankings is the UN SDGs. First set in 2015 to achieve a “a better and more sustainable future for all,” the SDGs are 17 interlinked aims that are “urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.”
A total of 2,152 institutions globally were included in this year's table.

"By excelling in a variety of SDGs, these universities showcase their commitment to addressing the world's most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships," THE said.
