Ateneo Philosophy faculty, grad student present papers at 2025 Philosophy of the City int'l conference in South Korea

Seven faculty members of the Department of Philosophy, as well as a graduate student, presented papers at the annual Philosophy of the City international conference from 29 to 31 October at the Pusan National University in Busan South Korea, organized by its Global Studies Department.
The following members of the Department of Philosophy presented papers that discussed a wide range of issues and interests, as follows:

Anamarie Avecilla, “The City and the Possibility of Freedom”
Albert Lagliva, “Development from the City’s Margin: Building on the True Wealth of the Poor
Pamela Joy Mariano, “Woman, Motherhood, and Home: Grappling with Gendered Dwelling”
Michael Ner E. Mariano, “Vivifying Marikina City’s Salamyaan Tradition”
Patrick Vance S. Nogoy, SJ, “Urban Political Ecology and Informal City: Towards Co-Designing with Communities”
Remmon E. Barbaza, who is a co-director of the Philosophy Research Group, delivered the director’s keynote address, “Imagining the City Otherwise: Mobility and the Contestation of Public Space.”
Graduate student Kevin Roque also presented his paper, “The Expansive Scope of Seiken (生圏) in the Conceptualization of Cities as Places of Habitat.”
