Ateneo de Manila Grade School’s Grade 2 students received their First Holy Communion on 7 and 14 February 2026 at the Church of the Gesù. This year’s celebration was historic, marking the first time that girls were among the First Communicants.
For the Grade 2 students, the First Holy Communion is a significant step in their faith formation journey. It is their first time to fully participate in the Mass by receiving Jesus in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Through this sacred experience, the children deepen their understanding of why attending Holy Mass keeps them close to Jesus and reminds them of His sacrifice.
The First Holy Communion Masses were presided over by Fr Kit Bautista SJ, Fr Vic de Jesus SJ, Fr Chester Yacub SJ, Fr Richard Lopes SJ, Fr Jonjee Sumpaico SJ, and Fr Pen Abuan SJ. Their guidance and presence helped make each celebration meaningful for the children and their families.
This important milestone was made possible through the dedicated support of the students’ parents and teachers, who worked closely together in preparing the children to receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
With grateful hearts, we pray that our students will continue to seek Christ often and grow ever closer to Him. May they inspire their families and friends to share in the joy of being with Christ and living in His love.
