40 Days of Lent: Day 37

40 Days of Lent: Day 37

40 Days of Lent: Day 37

While we can never fully comprehend God’s heart, one thing that is clear looking at the many beautiful things and the continuing time we are given is that we are His beloved. Even as we cannot assume how the Lord will manifest His blessings, we can believe that we are always well-provided for as how we have been in our human history. And despite the fact that we do not totally know what our Creator has in store for us in heaven, we are assured that a fuller life here in the world is what He desires for us.

That is what is Lent is about: the Father wants so much more for us than to be overcome with sin. Jesus went through his passion and death so we could be more free. And the Spirit continues to dwell with us so we are never left alone and never without grace. It is undeniable: our loving Source wants what is good for us, what is better than we can imagine, what is best for us here and for eternity.

Keeping in mind what God desires for us and knowing in our heart that the Lord is continuously working to make it happen, what is it that you want? Can you identify thirty-seven things that you long and hope for? Perhaps for yourself? For loved ones? For communities you belong to? For the country and the world? And as you look into your yearnings, you may beg for the grace to accept more deeply how you are empowered to contribute to making wonderful things come true. After all, Jesus’ offer of salvation has given us the right to keep on dreaming and to pursue our dreams.
