Ateneo School of Government
Mayor Joy Belmonte is Quezon City’s first female mayor and a transformative leader known for her inclusive, transparent, and empathetic approach to governance. A proud alumna of Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, she combines civic heritage with academic rigor. Her 14-point agenda promotes climate resilience, gender equality, and participatory governance, earning international recognition. Among her key initiatives are People’s Day, which fosters direct citizen engagement; the QC Protection Center, offering integrated support for women, children, and LGBTQ+ individuals; and the Joy of Urban Farming program, which expanded from 3 demo sites to over 1,000 urban farms empowering thousands of residents each year. As National Chairperson of the League of Cities of the Philippines, she advances collaboration and policy innovation nationwide. Mayor Belmonte’s leadership continues to reflect integrity, cultural sensitivity, and a steadfast commitment to public service.
