CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: Full-Time Research Assistant (Health Governance Program)

TERMS OF REFERENCE
Position: Research Assistant (Health Governance Program)
Duration: Three Months (initial contract; subject to renewal)
Location: Ateneo de Manila University, Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City
 
I. Brief Description
The Ateneo School Government (ASOG) is the public-sector arm of the Ateneo de Manila University. The School’s long-term mission is to teach and work with effective and ethical public servants. It aims to contribute to building prosperous, sustainable, just, and happy communities in the Philippines, empowered by democratic, participatory, transparent, and accountable governance institutions and processes.
 As a graduate school for leadership and public service, ASOG's academic and executive education programs bridge the gap between classroom wisdom and real-world policy decision-making and governance. Through its research and extension programs, and its work with public, private, and community organizations, ASOG continues to develop and foster innovative ideas and approaches in areas such as leadership, poverty eradication, climate change, social accountability, and politics.
 
II. Scope of Work
The Research Assistant shall be part of the project development team expected to provide research and general support in line with its research agenda to promote inclusive development in areas such as health governance. The research outputs shall be submitted to the Ateneo Policy Center Head. In particular, the Research Assistant is expected to:
  • Provide assistance in the development of research outputs such as policy briefs, briefing notes, presentations, empirical papers, and other research outputs, specifically by conducting reviews and analyses of literature, data gathering (may include development of research instruments; conduct of field interviews, surveys, FGDs; review of literature, etc.), as well as data analysis and write-up; 
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of academic events organized by the Center, which may include but are not limited to conferences, seminars, and research colloquia;
  • Lead in the development and maintenance of databases (e.g. database of partners, conferences, experts) for the expansion of networks; 
  • Lead in the completion of reports and other administrative and financial documents as required in the project implementation;
  • Perform such other functions as may be assigned by the project team similar to, and related to the functions enumerated above. 
 
III. Description of Education, Competence, and Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in any social science course, with above-average academic performance; Masteral units an advantage;
  • Strong analytical skills and appreciation of development;
  • Thematic familiarity with governance and institutions and public health.
  • Project management experience is an advantage;
  • Graphics presentation and research communication skills are an advantage;
  • Can efficiently handle and deliver outputs with minimal supervision;
  • Has excellent written and interpersonal communication skills in English, and excellent
  • interpersonal communications skills in Filipino; and,
  • Has excellent organizational skills and is able to contribute to team research processes.
