What's left after EDSA? A webinar on the Philippine Left post-Martial Law
19 Oct 2022
What was the Left’s involvement in the years leading up to the historic People Power Revolution of 1986? Where did the Party find itself post-Martial Law, and how have they fared since?
In an online talkback event "What's (the) Left After EDSA?: A Conversation on the Philippine Left” held last 12 October 2022, Dr. Joel Rocamora, former member of the Communist Party of the Philippines and currently an author, discusses the Philippine Left since Martial Law.
In the event, Dr. Rocamora talked about his piece “The Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs: The Left Since Martial Law.” This piece is part of a forthcoming book on the lessons and legacies of the Marcos Dictatorship with Dr. Edilberto C. De Jesus and Ivyrose Baysic as Editors. This book is set to be released soon, in line with the year-long commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1972 declaration of Martial Law.
Organized by the Kabataan para sa Manggagawa (KAPWA), this event was brought to you in partnership with the Ateneo School of Government through its public policy think tank, the Ateneo Policy Center, and the Ateneo Martial Law Museum.
