AJHS is champion of first ever Innovateur Investigatory Project Research Congress

The team composed of Ateneo de Manila Junior High School students Adrian Antonio, Enzo Balingit, Axel Recla, and Josh Reyes- all from 10-Southwell- emerged as champion of the first ever Innovateur Interschool Science Investigatory Project Research Congress 2024 on February 2, 2024. Coached by Jan Machelle Dela Cruz, the boys won for their research entitled, “Block through the Flocc: The Effectiveness of Using Banana Peels (Musa sapientum), Orange Peels (Citrus reticulata) and Apple Peels (Malus domestica) as bioflocculants in the cleanliness of water in terms of pH, turbidity, TDS, and bacterial growth inhibition."
Meanwhile, the group composed of Santi Cifra, Aedan Dela Rosa, Simone Marucot, and Ken Orata- all from 10-Pongracz- emerged as second runner up for its project, "No Scorn with Corn: A study on the effectiveness of pure corn (Zea mays) husk paper in terms of tensile strength (Pa), water permeability and fire resistance." The boys were coached by Hana Phylicia Garcia.
Our two winning teams won for projects that they had previously submitted and won awards for at Deep Dive, the 2023 AJHS Science Research Fair Exhibit held from April 19 to 26, 2023, when they were in Grade 9. “Block through the Flocc” won the Pope Francis Award for Best Research Project while “No Scorn with Corn” won the Fr Villarin Award for Sustainability.
Among the other schools that participated in the inaugural Innovateur research congress were host UST-Angelicum College, Trinity University of Asia and Saint Louis University Basic Education School, which took the first runner-up plum.
Innovateur was held in the St Albert the Great Auditorium of UST Angelicum College in Quezon City on February 2, 2024.
