Aghamazing! AGS teams secure gold and silver at YMSAT Festival 2026
06 Feb 2026
Two teams from the Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) showcased their scientific prowess at the Youth Math, Science and Technology (YMSAT) Festival: Aghamazing Race 2026, held on 24 January 2026 at the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Main Campus. Competing against teams from 15 other schools, our young Blue Eagles rose to the challenge and delivered an outstanding performance.
The Winning Teams
Demonstrating exceptional teamwork and critical thinking, the AGS teams clinched a double-podium finish.
The gold medal–winning team was composed of Zane Mercado (6-Canisius), Jacob Montellano (6-Kostka), and Audi Zapanta (5-Tausug). Earning the silver medal was the team of Kiel Co (5-Ati), Isaac Fernando (6-Brebeuf), and JD Fabul (6-Pignatelli).
About the Competition
According to the PSHS Official Facebook page, the Aghamazing Race is an “exciting interschool, integrated science olympiad designed to spark STEM curiosity, critical thinking, and teamwork among students.”
The competition challenged participants to race through 8–10 science-themed stations, with only 8–10 minutes allotted per station to complete hands-on tasks spanning various scientific disciplines. The fast-paced format pushed students to think on their feet, collaborate effectively, and apply their scientific knowledge under pressure to earn the highest possible score.
Congratulations to our young scientists for their brilliant performance and for proudly representing AGS on the science competition circuit!
