03 Feb 2026
Anton Doria, formerly of AGS 6–Brebeuf and now in AJHS 7–Arrowsmith, together with Luc Lopez, formerly of 3–Pinatubo and now in 4–Sikatuna, achieved perfect scores and earned gold medals at the Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO) Final Round 2025. The competition was held both onsite in Singapore and online on 14 June 2025.
Doria and Lopez led a delegation of 13 young science-inclined students from the Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS), who collectively earned three gold, six silver, and four bronze medals in the final round of this prestigious global competition.
The AGS gold medalists from School Year 2024–2025 were Anton Doria and Luc Lopez, both of whom were perfect scorers, along with Albert Reyes (2–Talisay). The silver medalists were Jakob Barretto (3–Bulusan), Kiel Co (4–Humabon), Iñigo Cristobal (5–Ifugao), Arthas del Rosario (4–Soliman), Kyle Siyhian (6–Gonzaga), and Rav Vergara (6–Faber). Bronze medals were awarded to Sebastian Aligada (3–Apo), Mika Bagain (4–Kalun), Mateo Palitog (6–Regis), and Audwin Zapanta (4–Humabon).

Among the AGS contestants, Jakob Barretto was the only Atenean who competed onsite at the HKISO Final Round, which was held at the National University of Singapore.
The HKISO Final Round 2025 featured participation from students representing various countries across Asia and other regions. While an official list of participating nations was not publicly released, contestants typically came from countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, India, South Korea, Japan, and selected countries from the Middle East and Europe, underscoring the truly international scope of the competition.
The HKISO is a prestigious annual global science competition for students from Grades 2 to 12. It covers four major disciplines—Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Integrated Science—and follows the Hong Kong School Science Syllabus, assessing students’ grade-level understanding, analytical thinking, and application of scientific concepts.
The strong performance of the AJHS and AGS students at the HKISO Final Round 2025 reflects both their individual dedication and the Ateneo’s continuing commitment to excellence in science education, as they competed alongside some of the world’s most promising young science learners.
