The Ateneo School of Government (ASoG) through the Executive Education Program (ExecEd) hosted a highly successful webinar on “Unlocking the 1987 Constitution: A Practical Guide for Everyday Citizens” last 11 September 2024. The event was held online via Zoom platform and ran from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Free webinar

Delivered by our esteemed Senior Research Fellow of the Ateneo Policy Center and a law lecturer at the University of Asia & the Pacific School of Law, Atty. Michael Henry Yusingco specializes in public policy, governance, and constitutional law. He focuses on reforms that promote transparency and accountability in governance.

Free webinar

The two-hour session was attended by a diverse group of nearly 300 participants from across the country, including members from Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), AFP, Educators, BARMM Representatives, several organizations, and undergraduate students, and empowered them with knowledge to better appreciate and navigate the 1987 Philippine Constitution.

Free webinar

Designed specifically for non-lawyers, the session aimed to equip everyday citizens with the tools to read and interpret the Constitution with greater ease and confidence. Atty. Yusingco's engaging presentation broke down fundamental constitutional principles into digestible concepts, offering participants a fresh perspective on how the 1987 Constitution shapes both their professional and public lives. With thought-provoking discussions and practical insights, the webinar sparked a renewed appreciation of the role of the Constitution in everyday governance and civic participation.

Followed by the success and overwhelming support of the event, the ASoG ExecEd is inviting everyone to deepen their understanding by enrolling in the upcoming 8-hour Execed online training course, "The 1987 Constitution for Non-Lawyers", set to run on 16 November 2024. This course is designed to re-introduce the 1987 Constitution to adult learners with little to no background in legal education. It will equip participants with the skills necessary to read, understand, and appreciate the national charter, exploring vital principles such as judicial supremacy, local autonomy, separation of powers, and intergovernmental relations.

Free webinar

The Executive Education Program is also launching several publicly offered short courses as well as the most-awaited leadership series this November.
