Danielle Sumanoy Baldono, 2nd year BS Physics student of Ateneo de Manila University, and her team won the 2024 Barcelona Zero-Gravity challenge in Spain last July 2024, an international competition held every 2 years hosted by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (BarcelonaTech) in collaboration with L’Aeroclub and UPC’s Computer Science & Microgravity Lab in Barcelona. Her team’s research proposal on observing shear-thickening fluids’ (STF) cushioning properties in zero-gravity was chosen as the winning entry. Along with her teammates Juan Migelle Ferido and Florenz Eugenio from DLSU, and Michelle Dote from NU-MOA, the research team GRABE is aiming to go to Barcelona this December to fly their student-developed device at the Sabadell Airport in Catalonia.
