The Ateneo School of Government (ASoG) through the Executive Education Program (ExeEd), conducted a training workshop course on “Legislation in Action for Local Lawmakers” from 23 to 24 October 2025, at Ateneo de Manila University's Loyola Heights Campus.
The course brought together local legislators from Candelaria, Quezon; Baler, Aurora; Magalang, Pampanga; and the Provincial Government of Albay to strengthen their capacity for effective, ethical, and community-centered lawmaking. Through lectures, workshops, and simulations, participants explored how local legislation can address real community needs while remaining grounded in legal principles and public accountability.

Dr. Isaias “Sonny” Ubana II, core faculty of the Ateneo School of Government, and currently the Mayor of Lopez, Quezon, and Atty. Eugene Kaw, faculty of the Ateneo Law School and John Gokongwei School of Management led the sessions, sharing their expertise on local government law, legislative processes, and crafting responsive public policies.
The sessions highlighted the crucial role of lawmakers in championing inclusive and results-driven governance, reminding participants that the strength and value of any legislation lie in its goals and the outcomes it seeks to achieve.
In her closing message, Dean Jennifer S. Oreta, PhD, congratulated the participants and reaffirmed ASoG’s commitment to empowering local leaders who embody integrity, service, and a deep sense of responsibility to their communities.

The training workshop reflects ASoG’s mission to form ethical and effective public servants - leaders who translate sound policy into meaningful change for the common good.
