AJHS community launches Holy Rosary Month with a Living Rosary

At 7:30 AM of 1 October 2025, the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School community gathered in prayer to launch our month-long observance of the Blessed Mother’s Holy Rosary Month with a meaningful Living Rosary celebration.

The Rosary is a powerful prayer devotion centered on the life, ministry, and saving love of Jesus Christ. Often called "the Gospel on a string of beads," it draws us into deeper reflection on God’s Word. As Scripture says:

“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6:17-18).

The Rosary leads us to Christ — the true Word of God and the sword of the Spirit — and helps us focus not on our words, but on Him. In this way, it becomes like a Bible in beads, drawing us ever closer to the heart of our faith.

The Rosary leads us to Jesus Christ

At Ateneo, students are encouraged to carry a rosary and pray it with deep faith and devotion. Our love for Maria Purissima, our beloved Mama Mary and Queen of the Ateneo, is also beautifully expressed through the blue-ribboned Miraculous Medal we wear throughout October, and in the heartfelt lyrics of our alma mater hymn, “A Song for Mary.”

Our Marian devotion ultimately leads us to a deeper love for her Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

A special highlight of this year’s Living Rosary: the flower beads used were lovingly handcrafted by our sisters in the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW). Each bead is a labor of love — a beautiful symbol of faith, hope, and healing. These flower beads also serve as a source of livelihood for the women at CIW and may be acquired through the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service (PJPS).
