Celebrating success: DSA honors class of 2025 at Ave Atque Vale dinner

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology (DSA) held its annual Ave Atque Vale (Latin phrase meaning "hail and farewell") send-off dinner to honor its graduating class of 2025. The event was held on 18 June 2025 at the Leong Hall Roofdeck, Ateneo de Manila University.

Two graduates, one from the undergraduate level and one from the graduate level, gave their testimonial talks during the event. The first testimonial talk was delivered by Fatimah Hanei Hosseini, Magna Cum Laude and AB Sociology Programme Awardee of the Graduates SY 2024-2025. 

The second was given by Angelyn P Ileto, MS Social Development (2025), recipient of the Best Presenter Award at the 3rd International Conference on Research Inclusivity and Sustainability (2025), held at De La Salle University – Dasmariñas.

The DSA awarded Special Citations and Certificates of Minor Degrees to selected graduates during the event.

Another highlight of the event was the turnover ceremony of the DSA chairship, from Dr Melissa Q Navarra, Acting Chair for SY 2024–2025, to Dr. Enrique Niño P Leviste.

Dr Mary Racelis, Research Scientist at the Institute of Philippine Culture was the Keynote Speaker, while Dr Fernando F  Zialcita, Professor Emeritus at the DSA gave the closing remarks.

Carl Tricy S Antipuesto, a member of the AB Sociology graduating class of 2025 and recipient of the Ateneo College Awards in the Arts (SY 2024–2025) for Performance in Music, performed during the event.
