SUBJECT

Appointment of Dr Charlotte Kendra Gotangco Gonzales as Director of the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability

I am pleased to inform the community that I am appointing Dr Charlotte Kendra Gotangco Gonzales as Director of the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) for a 3-year term effective 1 June 2021 to 31 May 2024.

Dr Gonzales is an Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Science. She concurrently serves as the Program Manager for Climate Change and Disaster Risk of the AIS. Kendra obtained her PhD in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Purdue University, Indiana, USA (2011). She took her BS in Physics with a minor in Philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila University (2004) and her Master of Environmental Management in a joint degree program with Ateneo de Manila University and the University of San Francisco, USA (2007).

On behalf of the Ateneo de Manila, I would like to thank Kendra for her magnanimity in accepting this new mission to lead the AIS.

The AIS Director reports to the Vice President for Social Development.

As we welcome Kendra, we take this occasion to express our gratitude to Dr Ma Assunta “Achoot” C Cuyegkeng for her generosity and dedication in leading the AIS since 1 April 2013 especially during its nascent stage.

Let us support the new Director of the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability with our cooperation and prayers.
