Professor Emeritus Dr Emma Porio to deliver keynote address at Regional Dialogue: Schools Climate Action Project

Climate Action

Dr Emma Porio, Professor Emeritus at Ateneo de Manila University's Dr Rosita G Leong School of Social Sciences (RGLSOSS) and Lead Author of UNFCCC-IPCC Climate Change and Cities 2027, is set to deliver the keynote speech at the Regional Dialogue: Schools Climate Action Project (SCAP) on 25 April 2026, in celebration of Earth Day 2026. The online event, themed “Our Power, Our Planet,” will take place from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM (IST) via Zoom and will bring together participants from several countries, including Turkey, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Vietnam, India, Japan, and South Korea.

The dialogue aims to provide a platform for schools and youth leaders to share initiatives, research, and collaborative ideas that advance climate action in educational communities. Participants are invited to submit abstracts and concept notes that highlight innovative approaches to climate education and sustainability practices in schools.

The dialogue is convened by Joshua Vidal, Executive Advisor and Founder of the Student Climate Action Project (SCAP) and Research Associate at Ateneo de Manila, together with Shahnaaz Ojha, Acting Regional Director of SCAP and a social science educator at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj.

Dr Porio witll be joined by by Lucia Vazquez, consultant with the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s Global Schools Program, and Subhajit Mukherje, founder and awardee of the Mother Teresa Memorial Award presented by the Honorable Governor of Maharashtra.

Registration and abstract submissions are open until 11 April 2026 through the SCAP registration portal.
