Connecting the Dots: Kids, Curiosity and Nature

Urbanization and the digital revolution have seen more children less connected to the outdoors. How can we encourage love for nature in our children today? How can we foster inquiry and sustain their curiosity about the natural world? Connecting the Dots: Kids, Curiosity and Nature explored how awe and wonder about the natural world can be developed in children by creating engaging activities that accommodate their needs.
On April 6 2019, this Sandbox Challenge 2 explored how children can be encouraged to explore and appreciate nature. Participants joined a half-day creative "hackathon" in the Eduardo J. Aboitiz Sandbox Zone of Areté with Ateneo Wild and Forest Foundation Philippines, Inc. They created engaging activities that aimed to accommodate children's learning needs and encouraged mindfulness of natural surroundings.
