Where the Wild Things Are: A Sensory Pop-Up Exhibit
22 May 2019
In celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity last May 22 2019, the Ateneo Wild held a sensory pop-up exhibit entitled Where the Wild Things Are. Visitors got up close and personal with various natural artifacts of the Ateneo wilderness! Everyone got to feel the different textures of tree bark and leaves, smell the scents of our campus flora, listen to the diverse calls of our campus birds, taste the different flavors of edible campus fruits in season, and view the beautiful and interesting wildlife found right in our own campus.
The Ateneo Wild, launched in 2018, uses social media as a platform to share vital information on the importance of urban green spaces and urban biodiversity. Campus flora and fauna are featured daily on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, including identification up to species level when possible. Community members are also encouraged to share their campus wildlife sightings, allowing them to take part in citizen science by helping catalog the species found in the Loyola Heights campus.
