ARISE Program and Activities

The University promotes programs to study and appreciate biodiversity on campus in order to maintain and protect the existing ecosystems. In fact, a focus on urban diversity as a research agenda is encouraged as a contribution to the University’s strategic thrust relating to environment and development.
With this, some of the researchers of the Department of Biology have been actively engaging in these kinds of studies. One such study was conducted by Dr. Ronald Allan Cruz entitled “An Analysis of Historical Trends and Drivers of Illegal Animal Traffic”. His study focused on understanding Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) as a threat to biodiversity, given that it is also a multi-million-dollar international trade industry. His study is featured in the ARISE Annual Report, pages 39-40.
