SDSN PH Country Manager

Dr. Emmanuel Delocado of the Loyola Schools' Department of Biology and the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) officially assumed the post of Country Manager of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Philippines (SDSN PH) on September 7, 2022.

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise with the aid of the world’s academic and research institutes, in pursuit of their mission to promote practical solutions for sustainable development. The SDSN advocates for integrated approaches to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change with the help and support of its member institutions in various countries around the world.

One of their National Networks, SDSN Philippines, is housed at the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability.

Dr. Delocado has been with the Loyola Schools' Department of Biology for five years and just joined AIS as its Program Manager for Sustainable Development Goals last Intersession.

During the SDSN Business Meeting, Dr. Delocado laid out his proposals for the network which focus on the following agenda:

  1. Forming linkages among members working on various thematic areas
  2. Strengthen linkages with business, industry, and government to further bring the network to a position that it can influence policy
  3. Tapping the strengths and enthusiasm of the youth from the member institutions.

SDSN Dr. Tuano

Dr. Delocado takes over the Country Manager position from Dr. Philip Arnold Tuaño who now takes over as Dean of the Ateneo School of Government.

Dr. Tuaño served as acting country manager for SDSN Philippines since February 2016 and under his leadership, SDSN PH had various initiatives which included the “Strengthening Academe-Business-Government (ABG) Partnerships for Addressing SDGs” project in collaboration with GIZ, the “Independent Dialogue on Food Systems” which discussed the issue of hunger and food security as crucial input to the agenda on sustainable food systems and agriculture, and the SDSN “ASEAN Green Deal” project which sought the development of an ASEAN plan to develop a strategy for transition to net zero emissions in order to honor its commitment to the Paris Climate Treaty.
