ASoG holds presentation of GIR on Baguio’s Primary Health Care and Service Delivery Network

05 Nov 2022

Good Health and Well-being

The Ateneo School of Government (ASoG) held a presentation of the Governance Innovation Report (GIR) of Dr. Jamie Eloise M. Agbayani, from the Master in Public Management (MPM) Class of 2022 last 3 November 2022. The GIR, which is the capstone project of the ASoG MPM program, was presented to the city health and government officials of Baguio City, including Local Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin B. Magalong.

Dr. Agbayani’s GIR was titled “Analyzing the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Primary Health Care (PHC) and the Service Delivery Network in Baguio City.” The GIR found that the pandemic exposed the fragmented PHC in Bagui, although it also brought communities together. It was also found that “participatory governance, risk communication and community engagement strategy adopted by the local chief executive and aggressive disease surveillance were instrumental in mitigating the deleterious effects of COVID-19 on the local health system” (Agbayani, 2022).
