AUN-EEC Conference 2023 Invitation
Please feel free to forward to your colleagues and networks. Apologies if you're receiving this more than once.

Greetings!

The ASEAN University Network on Ecological Education and Culture (AUN-EEC), housed at the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability, is organizing its fourth annual AUN-EEC Conference on Ecological Education and Culture. Co-organized by the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability and the Ateneo Biodiversity Research Laboratory, the conference for the year 2023 has the theme “Communing and Reconciling with Nature”, which alludes to the call for ecosystem restoration and reconciliation which might have taken the backseat during the peak of the pandemic.

In line with this, we would like to invite you to register for the conference happening on August 16, 2023 (Wednesday) from 9:00am to 3:30pm (Manila /KL time, GMT +8:00) via Zoom. The conference will feature speakers from ASEAN universities discussing ecological restoration within their respective communities. As AUN-EEC puts premium on public engagement and localization of ecological issues, the talks aspire to use language that engages and is easily understood by the general public regardless of nationality. Attached is the draft program for your reference.

We invite submissions for paper presentations. We are inviting students, faculty, non-teaching personnel, NGOs, LGUs, local champions, and other professionals to submit their abstracts under the following four thematic areas:

  1. Ecology, pedagogy, and interdisciplinarity

  2. Indigenous wisdom and stories from communities

  3. Nature-based and technology-based innovations in communing with environment

  4. Stories and insights from student orgs mainstreaming environmental advocacies

Those interested in joining as presenters may refer to the attached poster for guidelines on how to submit their abstracts. The deadline for abstract submissions shall be on 30 June 2023 (Friday).

We invite presenters and non-presenters to register and attend the conference. We would like to emphasize that presentation is not a prerequisite to attend the conference, as all are welcome to join the event as general participants. This year’s conference will have registration fees of PHP 500/USD 10, with a discounted rate of PHP 200/ USD 4 for those from AUN-EEC member institutions. Fees shall include access to the Zoom room & recording, certificate of participation, and a digital book of abstracts. Both presenters and general participants are asked to register using the link below by 9 August 2023 (Wednesday).

Complete conference details and updates on abstract submission, conference fees and modes of payment, and registration may be accessed at https://bit.ly/auneec2023conference.

If you have any questions, please email us at aun.eec@ateneo.edu or message Dr. Emmanuel Delocado at edelocado@ateneo.edu. We hope to have the conversation on the environment going and we look forward to your favorable response.

Thank you.

Best regards,

AUN-EEC Secretariat
