ASOG hosts communications strategy workshop for tobacco control partners

The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The UNION), in collaboration with Ateneo School of Government and Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CTFK), conducted a smoke-Free/vape-Free ordinance communications strategy workshop with tobacco control partners at the Crown Royale Plaza Hotel in Balanga City, Bataan from June 20 to 23, 2023.

The participants of this workshop included allied partners from designated tobacco control coordinators of local government units of Malolos City, Baguio City, Valenzuela City, and Balanga City as well as key stakeholders, communication professionals, and tobacco advocates from civil society organizations, non-government organizations, and people’s organizations.

The workshop covered key ideas in creating effective communications and research strategies for the implementation of the smoke-free/vape-free ordinance. Participants exchanged ideas, best practices, and innovative approaches to communicating the enforcement of the ordinance. 

This is an initiative to assist the local government units in developing messages and communications plan to adopt the new template ordinance, communicating to their constituents its objectives, and assist them in countering the threats from tobacco industries.
