ASMPH holds workshop reviewing the school's Program Learning Outcomes and Key Performance Indicators

On 8 November, the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) held a workshop dedicated to reviewing the school Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as applied in the ASMPH setting. The event brought together the ASMPH Dean’s Council, the Associate Dean’s Council, and the Medical Education Quality Assurance Unit (MEQAU) to collaboratively review and refine the metrics and targets that will guide the school’s performance.

The workshop’s primary objective was to establish clear and measurable indicators for assessing ASMPH’s progress in achieving its PLOs. Ten of these outcomes align with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) mandates, and an 11th PLO focuses specifically on Ignatian Spirituality, an integral part of ASMPH’s mission to cultivate compassionate and ethical physician-leaders.

During the session, participants explored current measurement tools and identified gaps in evaluating PLO attainment. Although the school already employs several metrics to gauge the success of its programs, workshop attendees acknowledged the need for more comprehensive assessments to support continuous improvement.

ASMPH aims to utilize the newly set targets and measures to highlight areas where progress is strong and where further development is needed. By aligning these KPIs with PLOs, ASMPH will be better equipped to ensure it fulfills its mission of delivering high-quality medical education that meets both national standards and the unique values-driven approach inspired by the Ignatian tradition.
