ASMPH inspires future physicians at the 2024 Ateneo Placement Series on Further Studies

22 Nov 2024

Quality Education
Decent Work and Economic Growth

The Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) participated in the 2024 Ateneo Placement Series on Further Studies, a key initiative of the Ateneo Office of Placement and Career Services (OPCS) under its Career Development Program. This event, designed for 4th- and 5th-year students, offered a dynamic networking and information session to help students explore opportunities for academic and professional growth after graduation.

ASMPH’s Admissions Team, alongside alumnus Dr Miguel Manuel Torrijos—now a practicing psychiatrist—represented the institution. Students moved through a series of roundtable discussions, engaging with representatives from various academic institutions to learn about diploma programs, specialization courses, and leadership training.

ASMPH drew considerable interest, with students asking about admissions requirements, scholarship opportunities, and the realities of studying at ASMPH. Dr Torrijos, an advocate for holistic medical education, provided invaluable insights, emphasizing:

  • The unique integration of a dual MD-MBA degree, equipping graduates with both clinical expertise and management skills.
  • The diverse career paths ASMPH alumni pursue, including clinical practice, roles in the corporate and pharmaceutical sectors, and public health leadership.
  • How ASMPH’s innovative approach prepares future doctors to be leaders in transforming health systems.

Dr Torrijos also shared his personal journey, inspiring students with his perspective on the nobility and fulfillment of a career in medicine. His stories of fellow alumni excelling in various fields underscored the value of an ASMPH education in creating physician-leaders who make a difference.

Through events like this, ASMPH continues to inspire the next generation of doctors, reinforcing its commitment to shaping healthcare innovators and compassionate leaders.
