AIS presents papers at the World Symposium on Sustainability Leadership 2025

The Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) presented papers at the World Symposium on Sustainability Leadership (WSSL 2025) which took place in University of Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain.

Dr Ma Assunta C Cuyegkeng, founding director of AIS and Executive Director of The Lily Ngochua Gokongwei Leadership Academy of GBSEALD, delivered two oral presentations which examined sustainability leadership in private and public sectors. She delivered a paper on “Sustainability leadership in public governance: making sense of mandate” which she presented on behalf of her student Lisa Antonio. Additionally, she talked about “How sustainability leaders creatively strategize to transform their business organizations”, a paper co-written with Fermin Antonio Yabut, Juancho Gabriel Barretto, and Robert Edric Josef Lizares.

Additionally, Dr Emmanuel D Delocado, Director of AIS and Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology, presented on how sustainability leadership of and in the University is exemplified through stakeholder engagement. His presentation is entitled “Leading the whole-of-society approach in sustainability transformations in Ateneo de Manila University”, which was co-authored by Dr Cuyegkeng.

WSSL 2025 featured presentations from university leaders, academics, and sustainability champions from six continents. In the networking sessions, Dr Cuyegkeng and Dr Delocado had the chance to explore partnerships for joint conferences, publications, and funded projects with other participants.
