AIS and ES welcome Fulbright scholar

The Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) and Department of Environmental Science jointly welcome Ms Alyssa Kemp, a Fulbright US Scholar. Ms Kemp is a recent graduate of Drexel University, PA, USA, where she completed an accelerated BS/MS program in Environmental Engineering, with minors in climate change and interdisciplinary problem-solving.

Her research will focus on coastal resilience and marine protected areas (MPAs), and how these can inform disaster risk reduction management. In this endeavor, she will receive mentorship from both AIS and the Department of Environmental Science. Following a two-month stay in the University, she will be moving to the province of Occidental Mindoro to conduct her fieldwork, which will include stakeholder workshops. At the end of the research project, Ms Kemp will return to the University to present her experience and findings to the Ateneo community.

Ms Kemp's visit follows that of Dr Richard Kraince from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, USA earlier this year. Dr Kraince was a Fulbright Fellow also hosted by AIS.
