Engr Jan Kevin A Galicia, BS Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) Program Coordinator of Ateneo de Manila University, represented the Philippines and the entire Asia Pacific region at the recently concluded 4th International Association of Jesuit Engineering Schools (IAJES) Summit, held at XIM University in Bhubaneswar, India.
As the official representative of IAJES – Asia Pacific, Engr Galicia delivered updates on the region’s status, shared ongoing initiatives, and participated in high-level discussions on the future directions of Jesuit engineering collaboration. He was joined by Dr Jenith Banluta of Ateneo de Davao University, further strengthening the Philippine presence in this international gathering.
This pivotal summit convened Jesuit engineering educators and institutional leaders from across the globe to deeply reflect on the identity, vision, organizational structure, and shared priorities of IAJES. With a keen awareness of the pressing global crises, especially those related to integral ecology, the summit emphasized a unified response rooted in Jesuit values and engineering excellence.
Key highlights of the summit included the discussion on the election of the new IAJES Board, the development of strategic oversight mechanisms for various task forces and projects, and the articulation of a two-year action plan that is aligned with the broader mission of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU).
Engr Galicia's active leadership and representation not only reaffirmed Ateneo de Manila University's longstanding commitment to Jesuit international collaboration, but also positioned the Philippines as a driving force in shaping the future of engineering education across the Asia Pacific region.

This summit stands as a cornerstone in the continued growth of IAJES, as it lays a stronger, more purpose-driven foundation for collaborative research, innovation, and education—all in service of a more just and sustainable world.
