Supporting local farms: Ateneo’s commitment to sourcing food responsibly
23 Sep 2025
From the lemons of Winaca Farm in Tublay, Benguet, to the “rescue vegetables” initiative of the Tanging Yaman Foundation (TYFI) in Nueva Vizcaya and Pangasinan, Ateneo de Manila University continues to strengthen its ties with local farming communities while promoting sustainability on campus. These efforts ensure that the food sources available to students, staff, and guests are not only fresh but also responsibly sourced.
Through Ebai’s Cafe and Pastry at Cervini Hall, the community can purchase premium lemons grown in the highlands of Benguet—produce known for its bright flavor and direct farm-to-table connection. At the same time, TYFI carries forward its rescue vegetables initiative, purchasing surplus harvests from Nueva Vizcaya and Pangasinan farmers and distributing them to feeding programs and indigent families.
